AIMS research centre affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University & offers doctoral programs PhD in Commerce & Management.

Research Centre with extensive infrastructure for advanced research and development covering the entire spectrum of management like Marketing, Finance, Human Resource & Organisational Management. In house Five faculty members are recognized as a PhD research guide.

Code of Ethics for Research (CER)

AIMS promotes research that benefits to the larger section of society and so the Management Council, Faculty Members and Students of the Institute are committed to research focused on people, organizations and industry. To honour the trust placed in researchers by research participants, funding organisations and society, the researchers should at all times act correctly and in ways that respect the rights and dignity of the participants, organisations and industry. In this regard all faculty members, researchers and students undertaking research are bound by code of research ethics.

Objectives

AIMS lays down Code of Ethics for Research:

  • To promote exemplary ethical standards in research and scholarship.
  • To Provide real time solution to issues pertaining to society & industry.

PhD Admission

Eligibility and Selection

  • Master’s degree or a professional degree equivalent to the master’s with at least 55% aggregate.
  • Candidates who have cleared the MPhil course work with at least 55% aggregate in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale.

Pune University PhD admission subject to an entrance exam conducted by SPPU, i.e. PhD Entrance Test (PET). However, those who have qualified in UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE or teacher fellowship holders are exempted from the university-conducted entrance exam.

The University admits candidates via a two-stage process (for those willing to secure admission via PET):

Stage 1: PET

The entrance test is of 100 marks (consisting of 100 MCQs of one mark each) with 50% aggregate as qualifying marks. The test contains the following type of questions:

  • 50%: Based on research methodology
  • 50%: Subject specific
  • The test is conducted at the centre(s) to be notified in advance. Changes of centres, if any, is also notified to students advance.

Stage 2: Interview

  • During this round, candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Department Research Committee.

Documents required for PhD Admission

  • Photocopy of statement of marks for last qualifying exam
  • Photocopy of statement of marks of the last semester of qualifying exam
  • Photocopy of caste certificate/ non-creamy later certificate issued by the Government of Maharashtra – for reserved category candidates
  • Photocopy of valid income certificate issued by Government of Maharashtra
  • Photocopy of the medical certificate issued by a civil surgeon in case of PhD category

Duration of the program

  • Ph.D. program shall be for a minimum duration of three (3) years, including course work and a maximum duration of six (6) years from the date of admission to the Ph.D. program. Pre-Ph.D. presentations will be allowed only after the completion of 3 years.
  • A maximum of an additional two (2) years can be given through a process of re-registration as per the Statute/Ordinance/Regulation of the University concerned, provided, however, that the total period for completion of a Ph.D. program should not exceed eight (8) years from the date of admission in the Ph.D. program. Provided further that, female Ph.D. scholars and Persons with Disabilities (having more than 40% disability) may be allowed an additional relaxation of two (2) years; however, the total period for completion of a Ph.D. program in such cases should not exceed ten (10) years from the date of admission in the Ph.D. program.
  • Female Ph.D. Scholars may be provided Maternity Leave/Child Care Leave for up to 240 days in the entire duration of the Ph.D. program of a maximum of 10 years from the date of admission in the Ph.D. program.
  • Tuition Fee & Other Fees shall be applicable till the date of submission of the Thesis as per the University circular.
